So my parents were on vacation this past week. As an only child, I remember once when I was in the 4th grade maybe my parents went to the Bahamas. I stayed behind. It was the worst time. I was miserable. I missed my parents sooooo bad. It was probably the longest week of my entire life. I think Gunner felt the same way this past week.
The first day they were gone, Gunner said, "let's go to mamaw and pa's!!" I reminded him that they were gone. He asked where...I told him "Mexico". He got out his map puzzle and asked if it was "here" (Florida) or "there" (New Mexico)...and if we could drive and meet them. I had to tell him that they were not in another state, but another COUNTRY. They had to fly. Then the next day we went to water the plants/grass and he says, "how come Pa's truck is gone?? How can they fly if the truck is gone??" Ugh, I had to explain that they DROVE to the airport and FLEW to Mexico. Everyday he asked about them...wondered what they were doing, when they were coming back, and so on. Today we went over there to see them...oh the JOY in his face when he saw his Pa!!!
I am just so happy that Gunner has a Mamaw and Pa like he does. I totally enjoy watching him with my parents. Of course Cannon missed them too! He was excited to show off that second tooth that came in and he really enjoyed Pa rocking him to sleep. I think that I am blessed to have parents who are so active with their grandchildren. They are the kind of granparents I want to be when I'm a grandma. It's a joy to watch.
